AHCC Key Research Summary

Active Hexose Correlated Compound (AHCC) has been the subject of over 200 clinical studies primarily conducted in Japan. Research is now underway at more than 150 institutes, including national research centers and university hospitals in Japan and the US. Each year since 1994, over 300 medical doctors and researchers have gathered in Sapporo, Japan for the AHCC Research Association Symposium.

The following is a summary of several published or formally presented AHCC studies. For more details on a particular study visit AHCCResearch.com, or contact the AHCC Research Association.

Anti-Cancer Drugs, Volume 9, 1998
"Combination Therapy of Active Hexose Correlated Compound (AHCC) Plus UFT significantly Reduces the Metastasis of Rat Mammary Adenocarcinoma."

Key findings include:
  • AHCC plus UFT had significant effects on the growth of primary tumors.
  • In vitro studies demonstrated that AHCC plus UFT enhanced the NK cell activity in tumor-bearing rats.
  • AHCC significantly reduced the metastasis (cancer that has spread) of rats when used in conjunction with UFT

American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine
"Influences of AHCC, a Combination Mushroom Extract, on Immune Function and Hepatitis C."

Key findings include:
  • A 64 year-old female with Hepatitis C takes six grams of AHCC daily. After four months, her Hepatitis viral load decreased 89 percent, and was normal three months later.
  • A 47 year-old man diagnosed with Hepatitis C 26 years ago, begins a regimen of three daily grams of AHCC and increases the dosage to six grams after 30 days. Six months later the patients' Hepatitis C viral load is reduced by 80 percent.
  • A 35 year-old woman with Hepatitis C starts taking six grams of AHCC and within four months reduces the diseases' viral load by 27 percent despite a history of I.V. drug abuse.

Key Research Summary

Nutrition In Cancer Treatment Symposium "Enhancement of NK Cell Activity in Cancer Patients by Active Hemicellulose Compound (AHCC)."

Key findings include:
  • A two-fold NK population increase in the cancer patient following AHCC treatment.
  • Enhanced NK anticancer activity for patients with myeloma and breast cancer.
Society For Natural Immunity "NK Immunonomodulatory by Active Hemicellulose Compounds (AHCC) in Cancer Patients."

Key findings include:
  • Seventeen cancer patients receiving three grams of AHCC daily showed significant enhancements of NK activity as early as two weeks after beginning treatment.
  • AHCC appears to activate NK cells by increasing their binding capacity to tumor cell targets.
  • AHCC is a potent immunomodulator and may be useful in immunotherapy of cancer.
